RE: Best way to sell a trailer in this economy?

I sold my trailer on Escapees.com. A similar forum to this one. They have a section for people to post classified ads. I have suggested this here, but it has been turned down. With us, it came down to price. I had it originally listed for $60k (nada book was 70k). I lowered the price every two weeks until I started getting calls. I ended up with $47500 for the trailer. (well below book). If the economy had been better, I believe I would have gotten closer to the $60, but I had no choice, but to sell. The more visibility your trailer has, the better. I put my trailer on RVtraderonline and did get some calls on it. I had the same problem with my truck. I ended up keeping the truck instead of losing so much on both.

RE: Campground Electricity

Our surge protector saved us twice at campgrounds. Both times the surge protector shut down power. Both times, the campground elec was not grounded properly.

RE: Fair price for a two year old new trailer

If you were to buy from a private owner 50% would be reasonable. Unfortunately he probably can't go that steep. 30% on th 09, but don't expect much more than that for the 07, maybe another 10%, but I doubt 20%. On the other hand, never hurts to make the offer.

RE: Is Newmar next?

I was told by a manager a TS that their problem was the lemon law in California. From what he told me, the law is so consumer friendly that they were having to pay out huge settlements on rigs that could have been repaired. He had thought that TS would simply drop the MH line and just make Fivers. Unfortunately he was wrong. I loved our TS fiver. I wasn't happy with their service dept., but the unit itself was great.

RE: Deal or No Deal,Buying a 5'er w/ a trade

You are getting ripped off. 35k is the most you should have to pay for the fiver. Sell your unit first, even if you have to take a loss.

RE: Full Time Fiver Suggestions

My family and I did what you are planning on doing in a Travel Supreme. Unfortunately they are no longer in business, but they made a great full-time unit.

RE: Selling TT and going to Jayco 5th Wheel - ?? need help.

Towing a fiver is far easier than a TT.

RE: Best Route from Yellowstone??

I came through Sylvan Pass last June and it was no Breeze. It was snowing and they ripped the road up so we were on dirt. I was towing a 38' 17000lb fiver and after that, I was not going to go over the Big Horns. We went to Casper and then up to Devil's Tower.

RE: Do any older trailers offer two bedrooms?

Travel supreme has made 2 bedroom fivers for years. Unfortunately they don't exist any more, but their trailers are very well built and you should be able to buy them for a decent price. Here is one http://escapees.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/161606761/m/7081072613

RE: Going Thru Hartford, CT

No problem with Hartford. Just stay in the center lane on the west side of Hartford. Bridges alternate being low on the right and left lanes.

RE: Forum rules regarding sales of RVs.......

I have used the classified. My point is simple. I agree we should abide by the rules and those that don't, their posts should be deleted. I am simply lobbying for a change in the rules regarding this. A good example of a forum that uses what I am talking about is Escapees. There is no cost to their forums, just like here. They have a section that is used for buying and selling items. It is nice because people can ask questions about the items and everyone can see the answers. I will abide by the rules, just something to consider.

RE: Forum rules regarding sales of RVs.......

I have no problem with rules and I try not to break them and have not broken this rule to my knowlege. My point is that a forum to list things for sale is a lot better than a static classified ad. Escapees has found this to be very successful for its members and it is something this board ought to consider.

RE: Way around NYC

I do not believe you can tow on the saw mill, but I am not 100% sure. I would take NJ I287 to NYI287 over the tappanzee and then to 684 to 84.

RE: Forum rules regarding sales of RVs.......

Personally, it is a rule that ought to be changed. Escapees has a specific forum for buying and selling RV's. Had my fiver on the free classified here and got no responses, but received many from the escapees site.

RE: Second Air Conditioner before I Melt

We used to get the temp down to about 62 at night and then it would hold at about 73 during the day when it got up to 95 with 1 ac. I would install the 2nd ac. We were quoted $1000k by the manufacturer and $750 by the dealership we purchased the unit at.
